How often should I work out?
There are 2 aspects to focus on when exercising: 1) Try and stay as active as you can every day. Where possible, take the stairs not the lift, walk/cycle instead of taking the car, walk the longway to the printer, go for a 15 minute walk at lunchtime if you are in the office, run around the house with the kids instead of using the Playstation,… 2) Dedicated exercising – if you are a beginner then all the bodyweight exercises of push-ups, lunges, burpees,… maybe too much. Start slowly and build it up. Beginners will need more recovery time to allow the body to grow and get stronger. Beginners thus would exercise probably 3-4 times a week with a day of rest in between. For intermediates/advanced people, the goal is maintaining and improving metabolic rates so exercising 4-5 times a week should be the goal. Each workout in the program should last for approximately 20-30 minutes and be at an intensive level.
